Meditation and mindfulness practices are interwoven into psychotherapy sessions. This may include meditation, visualizations, art exercises, and breathing techniques. Journaling exercises may be assigned outside of the session to record dreams, thoughts and experiences that ultimately will facilitate a new awareness concerning a pattern, issue or challenge experienced during the therapeutic process. You do not need to have a prior meditation or mindfulness practice of your own. You are also not required to have a practice while being a psychotherapy client. Meditation and mindfulness practices and techniques are used only to assist the emersion and expression of emotions and feelings not otherwise felt or experienced.
