Sexual Assault Awareness Month

The month of April is sexual assault awareness month in the United States. The goal of SAAM is to raise public awareness about sexual violence and to educate communities and individuals on how to prevent sexual violence. Statistics show that one of every four girls and one of every six boys will be sexually abused by age 18 (Finkelhor, 2000). If you are a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, or have experience abuse as an adult, there is support, help and opportunities for you. One great organization is the Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault (CCASA). CCASA is a membership organization promoting safety, justice, and healing for survivors while working toward the elimination of sexual violence. Below you will find information for an art exhibit put on by CCASA as well as links to other opportunities this month to get involved.
